To whom it may concern : Daughter of Missing Dr Din Mohammad Baloch

To whom it may concern

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Sammi Baloch, daughter of Dr. Din Mohammad Baloch. On June 28, 2019, my family sadly marks 10th anniversary of my father’s enforced disappearance, abducted by Pakistani secret intelligence officials. My father, Dr. Din Mohammad Baloch, is a medical doctor and a well-known political activist of Balochistan. My father is a kind, generous and an honest man. He kept us very well and dreamed to educate us. We are residents of Mashkay in district Awaran of Balochistan.

In June 2009, I suffered from a throat infection for which my father took me to Quetta for treatment. He received a call from Ornach hospital in district Khuzdar where he was posted and serving as medical officer. He left me in the hospital and promised to return back soon. On June 28, 2009, we received a call that my father was forcibly disappeared by intelligence officials from Ornach Hospital’s residency. This incident has totally changed and shattered our life. Everything changed in a blink of an eye. Since then, my family is struggling for his safe recovery. Once a happy family is now trapped in a nightmare for last ten years.

On June 29, 2009, my uncle lodged First Information Report (FIR No, 5/2009) in Ornach Police Station against disappearance of my father. On the same day, we held a press conference in Quetta and Baloch National Movement (BNM), the political party which my father was affiliated with carried out protest demonstration in Quetta and Karachi.

On April 1, 2010, I along with the team of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) marched on train from Quetta to Islamabad. We sat on hunger strike for 10 days in Islamabad.

On April 27, 2010 we filed a court petition (C.P. No. 446/2009) in the High Court of Balochistan Quetta.

On May 31, 2010, Mohammad Ramzan, the gate keeper and eye witness of my father enforced disappearance testified in front of Commission on Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances led by Justice ® Javed Iqbal.

In April 2011, we again marched to Islamabad on train for the safe recovery of enforced disappeared persons where we sat on hunger strike for ten days.

In October 2013, I marched on foot along with team of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons from Quetta to Islamabad more than (2500 km). It took us 3 months to reach Islamabad. We met with officials of United Nation and also recorded a protest demonstration in front of Islamabad Press Club.

On June 28, 2014, we did a press conference on the fifth anniversary of my father’s enforced disappearance and against violation of his legal right of fair trial.

In 2015, we sat on hunger strike in front of Karachi Press Club for three months i.e. June, July and August.

In March and April 2016, we participated in the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons hunger strike camp in front of Karachi Press Club and in June 2017, my family again sat on hunger strike camp in front of Karachi Press Club for one month.

I along with my family tried all state remedies for my father safe recovery but all in vain. I knocked every single door where there was slightest hope for my family to get justice. The pain and trauma which my family is endeavoring for last ten years cannot be expressed by words. The humanitarian situation of Balochistan is no more a hidden secret where mutilated bodies of enforced disappeared persons found dumped in desolated areas on daily basis. My family dies every time we hear news of recovery of an unidentified dead body in Balochistan. My father doesn’t deserve this nor does my family deserve to be in this state of anguish.

I humbly request all human rights bodies to be my voice and help us in safe release of my father and if he has committed any crime he should be trialed in accordance with law rather than languishing in a torture cell of Pakistan.
