BSO-Azad Protest in Ottawa Will Highlight Pakistani Atrocities in Balochistan
Toronto, March 17, 2016: Baloch Students Organization-Azad chapter in Canada has announced here that the organization will be holding protest rallies in Ottawa, the Canadian capital to bring awareness to the people and the country’s law makers about the gross human rights abuses in Balochistan by the Pakistani army and its intelligence agencies.
BSO-Azad will be commemorating the 2-year unlawful arrest and disappearance of their former chairman Zahid Baloch who was enforced disappeared from Quetta, Balochistan on March 18, 2014. The organization’s current Chairperson Karima Baloch will be leading the rally in Ottawa on March 18, 2016 outside the Canadian Parliament and will hand over a memorandum to the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada.
Karima Baloch stated that Canadian Government should use its diplomatic stature to assert pressure on Pakistani government for the freedom of Zahid Baloch, Zakir Majeed and thousands of enforced disappeared persons in Balochistan.
The BSO-Azad rally will continue its protests in Ottawa in front of the Pakistani and Chinese embassies to condemn the Pakistan and China partnership in military occupation and genocide of the Baloch people. The rally will also protest the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a mega project of China and Pakistan to control the deep sea port of Gwadar in the coastal Balochistan that will displace thousands of local inhabitants into poverty and loss of identity.
The BSO-Azad rally is part of the awareness campaign to highlight the plight of Baloch people and Balochistan region being systematically annihilated culturally, economically, and as a people to continue the build-up of the Pakistani and Chinese militaries and exploitation of the natural resources. This situation is becoming dangerously unstable for the region and the world. Unless, Canada, USA and Europe step up their efforts to stop the human rights violation in Balochistan by the Pakistani security forces, there is a real danger of the situation spiraling out of control, threatening the foundations of human civilization as we know it.
