Baloch Students Organization-Azad (BSO-A) Central Spokesperson said in the issued statement that the enforced disappearance of former BSO-Azad Chairman Zahid Baloch completes its four lengthy years.
Zahid Baloch is a student and a political leader, he was made the subject of arrest-cum-abduction on March 18, 2014 from CGS Colony, Satellite Town Quetta, and BSO-Azad’s running chairperson Karima Baloch is the eye witness of this incident. Zahid Baloch was the central chairman of BSO-Azad in 2014, and was having organizational activities in Quetta.
The arrest-cum-abduction of Zahid Baloch was aimed to intensify the ban on BSO-Azad and students politics in Balochistan. Ground has always been unfriendly for students politics in Balochistan, but activists of BSO-Azad always remained a challenge before the state barbarism. BSO-Azad’s activists work hard for the formation of the political culture in a politically banned environment. For the promotion of this political culture, Zahid Baloch like students leaders played important role.
The organization had held protest campaigns in Balochistan, Karachi and foreign countries against the enforced disappearance of Chairman Zahid Baloch, which includes the 46-day hunger strike by the former Central Committee Member Lateef Johar Baloch, which was conducted in front of the Karachi Press Club (KPC).
In this protest camp, former chief minister Malik Baloch himself admitted that the secret agencies abducted Zahid Baloch. Organization’s protest campaigns against the enforced disappearance of Chairman Zahid Baloch were fully supported by the nationalist party Baloch National Movement (BNM), Baloch intellectuals, litterateurs, and teachers including people from different walks of life.
We say with extreme certainty that the protest campaigns held against the enforced disappearance of Chairman Zahid Baloch were the biggest protests which were held against the abduction of any political leader in the history Balochistan and (maybe) in this region. But it is highly regrettable that a student leader was arrested and then was disappeared without any crime and arrest warrant, and it was followed by a strong protest movement for his recovery in Balochistan including Pakistan and in all big countries of Europe.
Chairman Zahid Baloch’s documents-of-enforced-disappearance were submitted to the United Nations including all big human rights institutions, but all institutions deviated from their basic responsibilities, which resulted in the non-recovery of Chairman Zahid Baloch despite passing four lengthy years, nor he has been presented before any court.
Former Central Committee Member Lateef Johar’s protest against enforced disappearance of Chairman Zahid Baloch was ended by the surety and promise of a responsible human rights institution, Asian Human Rights Commission, that Pakistan will be pressurized internationally for the recovery of Zahid Baloch. But measures for the recovery of Chairman Zahid Baloch were not taken, and this responsible institution disconnected its contacts to BSO-Azad, which shows their sincerity for the activities in favor of human rights in Balochistan.
The spokesperson said to the human rights institutions that Chairman Zahid Baloch was the chairman of Balochistan’s biggest students organization, BSO-Azad, and was highly active leader who represented students of entire Balochistan. Extrajudicial arrest of Chairman Zahid Baloch was not only the arrest of just one person, but is an attempt to suppress the voice for the rights of thousands of students in Balochistan. International human rights institutions should fulfill their basic responsibilities, and pressurize Pakistan for the safe recovery of Chairman Zahid Baloch.
The Spokesperson said that a social media campaign will be held on 18th March, on the completion of fourth year of enforced disappearance of Chairman Zahid Baloch by using #SaveBSOAzadLeaders and #SaveZahidBaloch. Social media activists from all walks of life should participate in this campaign and prove their love for the human being.
